Worship At First Methodist Midland
Worship frees us from the terrible burden of taking ourselves and our agendas too seriously.
As we gather for worship each Sunday, we corporately place God at the center of our lives to give thanks, offer our burdens, and tune our ears to God’s voice that is always speaking to lead us to places of abundance for the sake of others.
The singing will be inspiring, our praying will be centering, and the message deeply biblical. It is our hope that you will leave transformed, because we have been in God’s presence together.
9:00 am Traditional Worship
This service is held in the Sanctuary. It’s a bit more relaxed in approach but still follows a traditional order of worship. The Apostles’ Creed and the Lord’s Prayer are recited as well as the singing of the Gloria Patri and Doxology.
Pastor Steve Brooks and Pastor Kurt Borden team-preach during the sermon portion of the service and worhsip is led by the Chancel Choir. The Handbell Choir, youth or children’s choirs, orchestra, and soloists will also participate in this service on occasion.
11am Traditional Worship
This service is held in the Sanctuary. It is a tradtion-rich service with the reciting of the Jesus Creed, Apostles’ Creed, the Lord’s Prayer, and the singing of the Gloria Patri and Doxology. There is a time of reflection for recentering the mind on God’s presence.
Scripture is read and Pastor Steve Brooks delivers the message. Worship is led by the Chancel Choir with congregational songs from Our Great Redeemer’s Praise hymnal. Other musicians join the Chancel Choir on certain Sundays such as the Handbell Choir, youth or children’s choirs, orchestra, and soloists.
11 am Modern Worship
The Modern Worship Service has contemporary music led by the Modern Worship Team. Rev. Kurt Borden delivers messages that dig deep into the historical context of the Bible to make God’s word come alive in a very real way.
Children are always welcome to attend any of the worship services.
Childcare is also available in the nursery for infants to five-year-olds, or those not yet in kindergarten. Kids Church is a fun, interactive program for children in kindergarten through fifth grade that meets during the 11:00 hour in the church gym. The first Sunday of each month is family worship where Kids Church does not meet and young students join their parents for worship and Communion.
