Promotion Sunday is a special day as we celebrate our children and students taking their next step in faith and moving into their new Sunday School classes. At First Methodist Midland, we believe every stage of life is an opportunity to grow closer to Jesus and to discover our created purpose—to be with God and bear His image in the world. As our children and youth continue their journey of returning with Jesus to the goodness of the Garden, we are committed to walking alongside them as they learn to follow Jesus as their Rabbi, trust Him as their Savior, and serve Him as their King. Through age-appropriate teaching, meaningful relationships, and opportunities to AVAD (serve) and SHAMAR (care for God’s creation and His people), we pray they will grow into disciples who reflect God’s goodness wherever they go. Join us as we celebrate this exciting milestone, pray over our children, students, families, and leaders, and look forward to another year of growing in faith together.
Three-year-olds (who have or will turn three by September 1, 2026) will begin their first Sunday School class in the Ark.
Kindergarteners will move up with the elementary kids and have Sunday School in The Garden upstairs.
Sixth graders will be joining our Foundation Youth Group on Promotion Sunday!
Sixth graders will go to the basement during the Sunday School hour instead of going upstairs. Parents are welcome to take them down and drop them off. All of the youth will meet together in the big room. Our Youth Director, Kc Peoples, will welcome everyone and give instructions directing the students to their new groups.
Sixth graders are also especially invited to participate in youth the evening of Sunday, August 23rd at 6pm. It will be a regular Sunday night which means middle school students will go straight to the basement for their message then will have dinner in the Café/Atrium at 6:30pm.
