Ladies Dessert Night

Join us for an evening of fellowship, dessert, and painting! Over the past two years, we have grown a great relationship with Reflections Ministry. Reflection Ministries was formed in order to establish an emergency assessment center with second stage homes and aftercare programs designed to walk a journey of healing with sex trafficking victims.  An extension part of their ministry comes through the Mila project. Ceramic flowers are painted and combined with a written encouraging notes. Then they are placed in concrete pathways around the property. We have participated in this project before and this time we will be painting Mila’s flowers for some new and exciting spaces that Reflections has coming on the horizon!  Lisa Bownds, the Director of Reflections will be updating us on what is ahead for them and also take some time to share some very important information and tools regarding human trafficking in our own community. Equipping women is a vital part of their mission. Here are some staggering statistics to consider: Texas ranks #2 in the country for human trafficking. 60-70% of victims know their trafficker, and encounter them at public places, like malls, parks and even in schools. Lisa’s message is a prime opportunity to bring awareness to all of us ladies, young and not so young about our surroundings and how to stay safe. I encourage you to come and invite your daughters, granddaughters, nieces, or friends 12 and up to come and hear this message on Monday July 12th from 6:30- 8pm in the Atrium. All materials and desserts are provided.

Childcare provided with reservation. (Contact Ollie Kimbro: olliekimbro@firstmethodistmidland.com)
