No Perfect People: Insights from the Rough Edges of King David
This Sunday I begin a new series. I've discovered some recurring insights that I've found before, but I've also discovered some new ones, and I'm excited about sharing them with you. Often we think of discipleship as a kind of perfection. While Methodists have a theology that supports that, we also know that we have rough edges around our life with Christ. We know what it's like to doubt; we know what it's like to fail; we know what it's like to be betrayed; we know what it's like to suffer. This week I begin the series with this message: How to be More than a Good First Impression based on I Samuel 16:1-13. Start the series with me. Stay with me through the series. We'll both be better off, and maybe, just maybe, God will smooth a few rough edges.

Some of you are kind enough to send a few "cute" or "inspirational" ideas to me. I've trimmed this one down for your reading pleasure.

3) When you wake up in the morning, complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to________ today.'
4.) Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm, and Empathy.

7.) Always pray and make time to exercise.
8.) Spend more time with people over the age of 70 and under the age of six.
