Hurricane Harvey Relief Project

First Methodist Midland Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort

Members of First Methodist Midland want to respond to our sisters and brothers in southeast Texas who have been affected by the torrential rains and flooding surrounding Hurricane Harvey.  We have chosen to do this through the superb ministry of United Methodist Committee on Relief or UMCOR.  We are ready to collect funds from you to build 300 cleaning kits to send to the UMCOR Relief Depots that are now being set up.  Each kit will cost approximately $65.00. This means we will have a goal of raising around $20,000!

How you can help today

There are several ways to make monetary donations in order to purchase cleaning supplies:
  • Bring a check on Sunday morning and put it in the offering plate
  • Use the tithing envelopes located in the row backs and write on the memo line (“Flood Cleaning Bucket Project”)
  • Bring a check to the church office during the week
  • In the online giving section to the left, enter an amount and select “Flood Cleaning Bucket Project” under Fund.
  • Give using ChurchGo App, select giving on the bottom menu, enter the amount and select “Flood Cleaning Bucket Project”
  • Donate funds that will go directly to UMCOR to help their relief efforts by marking your donation specifically “UMCOR.”
How you can help later:
Help us make the cleaning kits.  We will soon announce a date and place where volunteers will be able to work together to compile the 300 cleaning kits that will be shipped to the UMCOR Sager Brown Relief Depot.
