God Bless Midland! Flowin' at the Mall

First Church Blesses the Community with God Bless Midland! Flowin’ @ the Mall

Over the course of three different Saturdays (March 26, April 2 and May 7) in the Spring of 2011, God Bless Midland! Flowin’ @ the Mall set out to bless shoppers in our community. 

What a beautiful day, Saturday, March 26 was!  At around 1:15 p.m. we all started gathering in the parking lot under the trees - meeting and greeting one another and receiving our "God Bless Midland!" buttons. After receiving our assignments and getting into groups, we took a moment to reflect on Christ, the light of the world, and to be thankful for all our blessings, we then joined hands and had a prayer for guidance.  Everyone cheerfully headed off to their service areas and the fun began!  

We handed out 900 bottles of water in one hour, gave away hundreds of "God Bless Midland!" stickers and greeted thousands of people by sharing smiles and kind words! 

A great time was had by all!  What a wonderful bunch of people!  A few of us gathered to talk about our favorite moments afterwards and all of the comments were very positive, fun and uplifting.  However, my favorite was from Genia Wilson who said, "I've been smiling so much, my face hurts!"  What a great pain to have. 

Thank you to all three dedicated and caring team of servers! It was an honor to serve with you all!  Over the course of the three days of Flowin’ @ the Mall, more than 4,000 bottles of water were given away by close to 100 volunteers. God bless you and God bless Midland!
